What should happen next, in order

- 2.Mark the exit yourself using the Aadhaar OTP flow. Choose the correct reason — 'Cessation (Short Service)' is the usual one for resignation. (member, about 1 day, at Unified Member Portal)
- 3.If under two months, or the self-service option is unavailable, write to the employer's PF contact asking them to update exit in the next ECR. (employer, about 10 days, at Employer HR / PF desk)
If nothing moves
The twenty-day settlement commitment restarts each time a desk returns the file, so it can be exceeded indefinitely without ever being formally breached. The only period that binds anybody is an RTI reply under section 7(1) of the Right to Information Act 2005: thirty days, after which silence is a deemed refusal and a penalty of ₹250 a day, up to ₹25,000, can fall on the Public Information Officer personally.
